At the very moment a relationship I was in was breaking up, I felt such sadness and grief, this painting emerged. Recognising how sadness, grief and tears are all expressed through the the lungs , I also see this piece being a declaration of freeing oneself from the past to open up to an even greater joy to that which did not last.
