Here's the story of how I created this piece. The original, I created in Moscow -- near where my ancestors, my great grandparents came from, a little town called Minsk in Belle Russe, White Russia. It was in the late 80's, and coincidentally enough, it was also the exact same time when US President Ronald Reagan was visiting Mikail Gorbachev of the Soviet Union. It was the beginning of the days he heralded Perestroika, the revolutionary movement of a renewed spirit of hope for the Russian people.
I had met this gorgeous woman at the airport as part of the welcoming group who met our "Global Family" from the states upon first arrival. She and I enjoyed visiting art museums in her home town, and even though the only language we had in common was French, we sure enjoyed each other's company.
