Description
Painted with acrylic on Venice Beach, California, in my late twenties. This scene depicts that crystallized moment where waves swell and crest to form what appears to be the profiled body of a suntanned sea goddess rising with radiant warmth from the cool blue and green waters below. She seems to emit a golden halo that's striped with blue streams which connect the sea below to the sky above.
If you look carefully, you can also see a smiling white face to the upper right, looking back at the emerging sight with sweet tenderness. I often find figures and faces facing the subject of many of my pieces, as though to suggest a presence emerging from another dimension. Sound familiar?
Strong green waves ripple around the front of our rising goddess and tuck back into the picture on the lower left, as though to suggest yet another deep dynamic presence. Some of these may appear to be dolphins or perhaps the next wave to come, adding even more circular and spiralling movement to the stirring scene.
What is emerging in your life, and art these precious passionate days? How are you rising with greater light though your night, cocooning your way through the apparent crisis we have created for ourselves, now evolving embodying this all as a fresh opportunity for every me, we and you
